AKC Height: Ideally, 9 1/2" to 11 1/2”. Colors: Black, gray, silver, red, black and tan, or beige.

 

Basic Requirements: Good breed for an apartment. The energetic Affenpinschers enjoy playing with their owners. Requires weekly brushing; monthly bathing. There is moderate shedding. Show dogs require more intense grooming and stripping of the coat.

 

Temperament: Lively, playful, independent. Can be stubborn at times. Affenpinschers get along best with children when raised with them. The breed is better for older children. Intelligent and brave, Affenpinschers will sometimes defend their territory as if they were much larger dogs. They make good watch dogs.
