AKC Height: Ideally males 18"; females 17". Color: A mixture of gray, black and cream.

Basic Requirements: Keeshonden are active dogs that need a securely-fenced yard with room to run and play. Twice-weekly brushing is required to control moderate shedding. Daily brushing may be necessary during heavy seasonal shedding.

Temperament: Keeshonden make good watch dogs, alerting of strangers with their bark, but they rarely bite. They are good family pets and are generally good with children.

Health (Health Dictionary click here Watch for luxated patellars, hip dysplasia, epilepsy, hypothyroidsm, Von Willebrand's Disease. The average lifespan is 12 years.

Tips: Keeshond is singular; Keeshonden is plural.
