The following breeders combine two or more purebred dog breeds in their breeding programs. Although the sires and dams of the puppies may be AKC registered, the resulting pups cannot be AKC registered.

Many of today's AKC registered breeds are the result of past combinations of various dog breeds.  Breeders combined these breeds, and bred for many years until they consistently produced a distinctly different dog that bred true to type.
