AKC Height: Ideally, dogs 28"; bitches 26". Color: Black, brown, gray, and white and black.

Basic Requirements: Newfoundlands require a moderate amount of exercise and a securely fenced yard is needed. Bi-weekly brushing will help to control moderate to seasonal heavy shedding.

Temperament: Newfoundlands are even-tempered dogs that are good with children. They are tolerant, calm, protective and they make good watchdogs.

Health (Health Dictionary click here) Average lifespan is 9 years. Watch for hip dysplasia, sub-aortic stenosis (SAS).
