PEKINGESE
Characteristics,
care, health & breeder listings below.

 | AKC
Weight: Around 14 pounds.
For show dogs, there is an AKC disqualification for over 14 pounds.
Color: All
colors, including parti-colors. |
 | Basic
Requirements: Pekingese
need a moderate amount of room in which to exercise. They are good
dogs for smaller homes and apartments if they are taken for daily
walks. Bi-weekly to daily grooming will help to control moderate
shedding, remove dirt and debris from the hair, and keep the coat
from tangling. |
 | Temperament:
Pekingese
are confident dogs that love attention and are devoted to their
owners. They do have an independent streak, however, and can, at
times, be difficult to train. They do best with older children. |
 | Health
(Health Dictionary click here) Average
lifespan is 13 years. Watch for dry eye, problems with eye lids,
disc disease, luxated patellar, the breed is susceptible to heat
stroke. |
