AKC Height: Ideally 9 to 10 1/2 inches. Color: All colors.

Basic Requirements: Shih Tzu do well in smaller homes or apartments provided they receive a moderate amount of daily exercise. They do require a good amount of grooming time; daily brushing is necessary to help prevent tangles. Occasional bathing, blow-drying and trimming is also necessary.

Temperament: Shih Tzu are well suited as a companion dog. They are loving, playful and devoted to their owners. They are good family dogs, as they truly love people.

Health (Health Dictionary click here) The average lifespan is thirteen years. Watch for renal dysplasia, liver shunt, keratitus, distichissis, dry eye, ectopia cilia, juvenile cataracts, PRA.
